Are you or your loved ones concerned about your ability to drive after suffering a stroke or neurological injury? Are you getting older and feel your driving skills are not as sharp as they once were? Does your doctor recommend that you see a driving specialist before returning to driving?
REHABOLOGYM understands that driving allows for independence and freedom for individuals. Rehabologym’s Driver Rehab Program will assess and address skills needed for driving, identify potential limitations or risks, and provide customized interventions to each individual to maximize success and safety behind the wheel.
Driving is a complex activity that demands multiple cognitive, sensory, and motor skills to safely handle a vehicle on the road. A variety of medical conditions, illnesses and the natural aging process can impair these skills, affecting one’s ability to obtain or retain a driver’s license. The OT driver assessments can determine “fitness to drive” for individuals with functional impairments, as a result of a medical condition. (Pallant, J., Russell, K. J., & Odell, M. (2011). Ot-Dora: driver off-road assessment battery. Bethesda, MD: AOTA Press.)
A Driver Rehab Program is recommended for individuals preparing for a formal off road/on-road driver evaluation to determine whether he/she is “fit to drive” and/or for continued monitoring/maintenance of current skills needed for driving safety.
Rehabologym’s Occupational Therapists will determine a person’s potential to drive safely through a battery of clinical assessments, objective measures & use of cutting-edge technologies to assess & address skills in the following areas:
